Vistory is a GPS-based historical tourism app for iPhone and Android. When you physically visit a historical marker, GPS proximity unlocks a collectible historical icon with a verified narrative about that location. Think of it as Pokémon Go for history lovers and families.
Vistory checks your GPS location every 15 seconds with accuracy under 50 meters required. When you're within range of a historical marker, your visit is verified automatically. You have to actually be there — no shortcuts, no spoofing.
When your group visits a historical marker and a member can't be there — deployed overseas, away at college, recovering from illness, or simply couldn't make the trip — they automatically receive a Silver Shared Discovery icon. They can react in real time, and the Silver icon becomes a personal invitation to visit that marker themselves someday.
Vistory partners with museums, historical societies, and state historic preservation offices to source and verify marker narratives. We never publish unverified historical claims.
